The Halifax County Historical Society is in the last phase of placing brick orders to create the Memorial Brick Walkway at the Cotton Mill Tower in South Boston.
“This Memorial Day is an appropriate time to buy a brick to honor or memorialize your veteran or military service man or woman,” said Sevanne Gilliam of the Halifax County Historical Society.
The cost of each memorial brick is $100. Each brick will be laser etched with up to three lines with 20 spaces on each line.
“Only 200 bricks will be available, so time is running out to make your name a permanent part of South Boston,” Gilliam said.
Donors may complete the order form on the Halifax County Historical Society website (www.halifaxcountyhistoricalsociety.org) or order online at https://polarengraving.com/HalifaxCountyHistoricalSociety.
Forms also may be picked up at Toot’s Creek Antique Mall or Peddler’s Market in Halifax. In South Boston, forms may be found at Electric Service/Main Street Furniture or the Visitor Center.
The society also is accepting cash donations toward the completion of the sidewalk and the planned replacement fence. Contributions may be mailed to P. O. Box 601, South Boston, VA 24592. Donations are tax deductible. Mark your check “fence.”
